With the controversy surrounding the Oscars continuing to grow by the day, more Hollywood stars are jumping into the fray and this time they are throwing their demands towards the upcoming host, comedian Chris Rock.
Rock, who has hosted the Oscars before, is being asked to step down by fellow actors 50 Cent and Tyrese Gibson.
50 Cent took to Instagram to plead his case, telling Rock: “You mean a lot man, don’t do it. Please.”
Gibson echoed his sentiments, saying on Instagram that “There is NO JOKE YOU CAN CRACK TO EVER CHANGE THE WAY WE ALL FEEL!”
Since Jada Pinkett has made the announcement to boycott 2016’s Oscars, there have been several notable people straddling both sides of the fence, with Mark Ruffalo and George Clooney among those that have voiced concerns about this year’s white contenders in the major fields.
There is no word yet on whether or not Rock will step down, but one thing is sure. This issue will be brewing up to and possibly after the Oscar telecast.
For right now, the Academy is desperately trying to woo more prominent black actors as presenters.
