Terron Beckham, cousin of New York Giants Star wide receiver, Odell Beckham, is about to make his name known. Terron is a personal trainer and fitness model who is one of the most athletic people to ever be invited to the scouting combine. The catch? He never played college football.
At 5-foot-11 and 230 pounds, the younger Beckham has the makeup to be a strong player in the slot or in the backfield. His height may deter some teams in need of a wide receiver but he certainly has the hands to make up for it.
While training recently for the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine, Terron had 40 reps in the 225 lbs. bench press, a mark that would have won him first in last years combine. In addition to his strength, Beckham has a 44-inch vertical leap.
The downside here, of course, is the fact that he has never played football at a speed even close to the NFL’s. Regardless, he has the raw makeup with a blend of agility, speed, strength and just pure athleticism. Oh, and best believe he’s in shape.
Think of Terron as a sort of project player in the NFL this year. Let us all hope he fairs much better than the 49er’s project player this past season, Jarryd Hayne, an ex-Rugby League player in Australia. Hayne undoubtedly has the athletic makeup as he was a Rugby star in Australia. Perhaps maybe there was a problem with the coaching…
Nevertheless, Terron Beckham will more than likely earn a spot on a team’s roster for this summer’s training camps, if not as a player in the preseason. If all goes well, we could be seeing him in a regular season jersey come fall. Let us just hope for some exciting plays from this exciting young man.
