Agatha Christie’s best-selling crime novel of all time with 100 million copies sold worldwide makes its US premieres in a two-part miniseries Sunday, March 13 at 8pm ET/PT and Monday, March 14 at 9pm ET/PT on Lifetime.
Set in 1939, And Then There Were None follows ten strangers with dubious pasts who are lured to Soldier Island cut off from the mainland. With their hosts mysteriously absent, the guests start to die accordingly to a poem listed in each one of their rooms, and then they all realize that they may be harboring a murderer amongst themselves and within themselves. Who will survive? And who is the killer or killers?
Here’s the poem.
Ten little soldier boys went out to dine; One choked his little self and then there were nine.
Nine little soldier boys sat up very late; One overslept himself and then there was eight.
Eight little soldier boys travelling in Devon; One said he’d stay there and then there were seven.
Seven little soldier boys chopping up sticks; One chopped himself in halves and then there were six.
Six little soldier boys playing with a hive; A bumblebee stung one and then there were five.
Five little soldier boys going in for law; One got in Chancery and then there were four.
Four little soldier boys going out to sea; A red herring swallowed one and then there were three.
Three little soldier boys going to the zoo; A big bear hugged one and then there were two.
Two little soldier boys playing with a gun; One shot the other and then there was one.
One little soldier boy left all alone; He went and hanged himself and then there were none.
I just watched the screeners and it starts off slowly, only to give you an idea and summary of each individual’s past, lifestyle and personality, but hang on because it’s worth the wait.
It’s an exciting, sexual and intriguing case of whodunnit! If you like How To Get Away With Murder and Saw, then you will definitely enjoy And Then There Were None!
