The former wrestler known as Chyna was found dead at her home in Redondo Beach late yesterday. Sadly for her and those who loved her news of her passing has been over shadowed by the death of another entertainer, Prince.
It’s de ja vu all over again. The same thing happened to poor Farrah Fawcett when she had the misfortune to die of the same day as Michael Jackson.
TMZ reports that the former wrestler, porn actress and reality television star had been dead in her home for days before her body was found. The entertainer, born as Joan Laurer was 46 years old. No immediate cause of death has been declared but it’s been reported that there were no signs of foul play nor a suicide note found.
The website defines Laurer as Former WWF/WWE, NJPW & IGF Wrestler. Author, Model, Actress & Entertainer. Fitness & Nutrition Enthusiast, Animal Lover & Vegan.
Chyna joined the WWF in 1997 and retired from wrestling in 2001. She went on to pose for Playboy before doing a series of pornographic movies. She also was seen on a number of reality t.v. shows, one of them Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew where she discussed and sought help for her substance abuse issues.
Laurer released an autobiography in 2001 entitled “If They Only Knew.”
In 2002 she briefly returned to wrestling when she joined New Japan Pro Wrestling. She made another brief return in 2011 with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
Her wrestling character has been forever immortalized in five video games and well as action figures.
Yahoo News reports that just days before the entertainer was found dead in her home she had posted a video online where she appeared loopy and out of it as she walked around her apart in headphones with a feather in her hair.
The following message can be found on the former wrestler’s website:
“It is with deep sadness to inform you that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero. Joanie Laurer aka Chyna, the 9th wonder of the world, has passed away,”
