Kenny Chesney fans trashed Pittsburgh AGAIN. The city of Pittsburgh thought that the 30 tons of garbage left by fans in 2013 was something, I bet the 48 TONS of garbage left behind this time was an amazing sight. In addition 100 people had to be treated by medics, 37 were transported to local hospitals. Seven people were arrested. 36 people were cited for underage drinking, three more were charged with marijuana possession.
According to Pittsburgh’s Police Chief Cameron McLay, most of the fans who were seen by medics were treated for “over-intoxication and dehydration.” Those arrested at the Kenny Chesney concert face charges ranging from trespassing and ticket robbery to simple assault and public intoxication Chief McLay added.
At least this concert wasn’t as hostile and troublesome as the last time Chesney performed in Pittsburgh. In 2013 his fans left over 30 tons of garbage but that was nothing compared to the 150 treated by medics, 73 arrested and 45 people who were taken to local hospitals.
After the 2013 concert I’m surprised he was allowed back. If that kind of chaos and mayhem had broken out at any Black performers concert I highly doubt the performer would have been invited back to town. In anticipation of the chaos Heinz Field issued a number of rule and regulations specifically for the show including
Heinz Field management also reminds fans of the parking lot code of conduct:
- Upon entering, fans will receive trash and recycling bags.
- Trash must be disposed of properly.
- The following are prohibited: solicitation of any kind, the sale of food and alcohol, glass containers, tents, personal port-a-johns, furniture (other than folding lawn chairs and tables) and oversized vehicles.
- Fans were encouraged not to bring bags and if they did, a clear ziploc bag or clutch purse which was subject to inspection.
- Guests must leave the parking areas no later than one hour after the concert ends.
Also among the things not allowed inside were selfie sticks, coolers, thermoses, backpacks, large purses, cans, glass bottles, flasks, alcoholic beverages, laser pointers, noisemakers, strollers, video and movie cameras, tripods and audio recording equipment.
City officials call his July 2, concert at Heinz Field an improvement and regard it as “successful.” “I think we’ve seen major, major improvements,” said Guy Costa, Pittsburgh’s chief operations officer in a press conference early Sunday morning.
Could you imagine had this been a rap concert where fights had broken out, drugs been found and dozens of people take to a hospital? I can. It would be front page headline news. But this? This is just another Kenny Chesney concert. 48 tons of trash, dozens of people hospitalized, almost 100 treated by the medic and no one is making a big fuss huh? Yea okay. Let Lil Wayne fans pull some crap like this and people would act like a riot had broken out.
