The former head of the KKK wants to infiltrate congress now. Convicted felon and former KKK leader, David Duke, has announced his bid for a senate seat. As incredulous as it may seem given his ties to the home grown terrorist group, Duke is a former member of the Louisiana House of Representatives.
In the xenophobic atmosphere GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has created across the U.S. as he spreads his hate fueled rhetoric, more and more people who want to make America “white again” are making themselves known. The well known white supremacist David Duke declared “The climate of this country has moved in my direction,” as he registered to run for the soon to be vacant senate seat.
“The people of this country, the patriotic, decent, God-fearing people of this country are now right with me.” Duke declared. Thanks Trump, you have awakened the hate that America has worked so hard to rid itself of.
With Trump’s candidacy gaining so much support it is no surprise that people like Duke feel empowered. I can only imagine how David Duke is drooling over the opportunity to show his white pride. Duke has said that he supports “equal rights for all, and respect for all Americans.” He did not hesitate to add “However, what makes me different is I also demand respect for the rights and the heritage of European Americans.”
REALLY?
So explain to Me how someone can support equal rights for all and then say he demands RESPECT for the right and HERITAGE of European Americans.
I wonder who is standing up for the rights and heritage of the Native American these days.
Duke is among over a dozen candidates that are hoping to fill the soon to be open seat of Sen. David Vitter, who is not be seeking re-election next year. Admitting that he feels comforted by the ideas of Donald Trump, Duke has pledged to “stop the massive immigration and ethnic cleansing of the people whose forefathers created America.” He stated, “We cannot have free trade without fair trade.” Duke says he was “overjoyed to see Donald Trump and most Americans embrace most of the issues that [he’s] championed for years.”
Yep Donald Trump, you’re right on track to Make America Hate Again. His candidacy has brought out the worst in some Americans.
Louisiana has been in the news very much in the last two weeks. First with the news of the police shooting death of Alton Sterling, followed by large protests where over 100 people were arrested. Just the next week a Black former U.S. veteran opened fired on Baton Rouge police officers killing 3 and injuring 3 more.
Is is really a coincidence that suddenly the former KKK leader wants to have more control of the state? Just the idea of a former KKK leader making any rules and laws in a state that already is filled with high racial tension, scares me.
I guess he just wants to “demand respect for the rights and the heritage of European Americans.” You know rights and heritage, like the ability to kill Blacks without repercussion Like the good ol’ days.
David Duke founded a KKK chapter in 1974 and went on to take a seat in the Louisiana House of Representatives in 1989. In 2002 he became a convicted felon when he admitted and plead guilty to stealing from him supporters and tax fraud. Duke spent a year in federal prison for his crimes.
Unlike Donald Trump, who refused to denounce Duke when he endorsed him for president, The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) said it would not support Duke in any way.
“Louisiana voters will be able to choose from several Republican Senate candidates who will have a great impact on the Bayou State and the future of our country. David Duke is not one of them,” says the statement released by NRSC. “He will not have the support of the NRSC under any circumstance.” Roger Villere, chairman of the Republican Party of Louisiana, has declared that the Republican Party “will play an active role in opposing” Duke. Villere went on to call Duke a “hate-filled fraud who does not embody the values of the Republican Party.”
At least some branch of the Republican Party still wants to be respected.
Duke has made inflammatory comments on what he calls the “massive racial discrimination going on right now against European Americans.” The former KKK Grand Dragon also lashed out at what he considers a “biased media working against him.” Though Duke has led one of America’s oldest terrorist groups he has publicly labeled the Black Lives Matter movement a “terrorist organization” and pointed out that he wants equal rights for everyone. But don’t forget he also said “However, what makes me different is I also demand respect for the rights and the heritage of European Americans.” I think that translates to “Fuck you, white lives matters”
“You don’t come together by a narrative in the controlled media that white people are evil and black people are faultless. You come together on the idea that every people in this country have a right to respect, every people have a right to fairness,” Duke says.
Earlier this year Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center said of Duke, “David Duke still portrays himself as a white nationalist hero, but the fact is he hasn’t done anything political in years.” He added, “Duke’s having a moment in the news now, and he needs this. In the white supremacist world, he’s seen as an opportunist, someone who is living off the movement.”
When David Duke attended Louisiana State University he was known to parade around on campus in a Nazi uniform. In 2009 he founded the National Association for the Advancement of White People. Of course he ripped the name off from the NAACP ( National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and states on the websites homepage that “When I started NAAWP I did it as more of a joke,a way to piss off uptight morons.”
Is this a man we will allow to govern us? November 8, 2016 Louisiana be at the polls and say NO to David Duke.
Daily I am baffled by why white Americans seem to think that America should be a Christian country where the rights and privilege of ONE race should supersede all others. When Duke speaks of the heritage of European Americans I wonder if he remembers that Europeans discovered a country that was already inhabited by people, who worshiped spirits not “God”. I wonder if he understands that Europeans stole this land and are no more natural Americans than My African descendants were.
America is a melting pot, it hasn’t always been though. In 1776 when the Europeans decided they no longer wanted to live under the rule of the King, the first immigrants settled in. They then procured slaves from Africa, making us immigrants. The Europeans are the initial cause of cultural mix that now encompasses the United States. Funny how the Europeans are still trying to claim this country as their own. They want to build a wall and get rid of all the illegal immigrants. Does that mean we all get to go home and give the Native Americans their land back finally? To them, we are ALL illegal.
