Summer is here, so the heat is on! The New York tri-state area once again host the premier Hip Hop Super Concert. Hot 97’s Summer Jam shook Metlife Stadium to its core with performances from the Migos, Meek Mill, and Cardi B.
After some great sets from Davido, and FunkMaster Flex with the Migos, it was time for the current reigning Queen Cardi B to grace the stage. Ms. Bardi did not disappoint, unloading every one of her hits to a massively energetic crowd. Adorned in a diamond-studded yellow bikini top and shorts, she caused a series of on beat earthquakes from the crowd jumping to the open verse of “Bodak Yellow”. Her husband, 1/3 of the Migos: Offset, joined her onstage to perform “Clout.”
City Girls were next up, followed by Pardison Fontaine, but no one at Summer Jam expected to see the next surprise. A man with long blonde hair walked through her back up dancers with a guitar and began to belt the lyrics to a song many knew the words to but didn’t expect to blare from the Summer Jam speakers. It was Billy Ray Cyrus, who was later joined by Lil Nas X for the number one song in the country, “Old Town Road.”
It was a monumental moment for the event, but moments like these are no stranger to the Summer Jam stage. Jay-Z brought out the legendary Michael Jackson on that very stage, which has not been topped since.
