Greetings DJ 4 Rain! I’m pleased to meet your acquaintance!
Hello! Likewise!
Currently, you are Miami-based. Where are you from originally?
I was born in France, but my parents are from Cape Verde Island.
Your collaborations with Meek Mill and Tory Lanez have both reached platinum status with the latter receiving a Grammy Nomination. How did these collaborations inspire?
This is when I realized how fortunate I was to be a part of these types of projects. That made me want to work even more and not be afraid to push my limits. I will never forget that opportunity that was given to me.
Cool! What was it like working with those two?
It was a great experience, I learned a lot from them and it reallychanged the way I am working today. They taught me to also believe in my choices. I can say that I came out of that experience a lot more stronger mentally.
That’s highly respectable! You honed your skills working at nightclubs on the French Riviera. How would you compare that experience with experiences working at nightclubs in the UK and US?
It’s a lot different because the public doesn’t react to the same type of music around the world, I am very lucky to have a lot of DJ friends all over the world, we are talking a lot and share a lot about our own experience so it helps a lot.
That’s always good! Describe yourself in three words.
Hard Worker, Hyper, Kind
Great choices! These traits will get you through many hard times. What five songs do you consider to be the soundtrack of your life and why?
Justin Timberlake – “What Goes Around”, Michael Jackson – “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough”, Black Eyed Peas – “Don’t Phunk With My Heart”, Sia – “Elastic Heart”, and Marvin Gaye – “Sexual Healing”. Those songs are my favorite of all time because they mean so much. I was listening to those songs at different periods of my life – happy moments or difficult times so they mean a lot for me.
Your second choice is one of my all time faves as well ! If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be?
Honestly nothing, because my past made me who I am today.
That’s respectable. How is your creative process different then how it was one year ago?
I feel like the process is really different today because I’m listening to music in a different way, so any sound now can inspire me – like a drum sound. A couple of years ago, I couldn’t start a track without a melody. And today I do.
Name one thing about you that separates you from your peers.
I don’t compare myself to them because I have a lot of respect for what they’ve accomplished. I would say that I have the capacity to jump from one type of music to the other very easily due experiences with music through my cultural heritage.
Interesting! You are definitely a force to be reckoned with! Tell the fans where they can reach you.
They can reach me on Instagram. It’s the platform I am really active on @dj4rain, but you can also find me on Facebook and I also just reopened my Twitter haha!
Excellent! It was awesome chatting with you today! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for having me!
