$1 Million For Police Reform Pledged By Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Dak Prescott

He shared in a post that he was “disgruntled and unsettled” at the killing of George Floyd.

To announce that he’s pledging $1 million dollars, Cowboys Quarterback, Dak Prescott, took to his Instagram. The initiative was intended “to improve police training and address systematic racism through education and advocacy in our country.”

He shared in his post that he was “disgruntled and unsettled” at the killing of George Floyd. The quarterback also presented his support for protesters saying, “I am with you.”

Prescott expressed he he wanted the police to change. “I have the utmost respect for those of you with a passion for protecting and serving your communities,” Prescott wrote. “When you chose to wear the badge of a police officer, you pledged to PROTECT life and property through the enforcement of our laws and regulations. How can you claim to uphold the law when those within your ranks don’t abide by it? You need to hold your own accountable,” he added. “Each of you are as guilty as the men who stood beside Derek Chauvin if you do not stand up against the systemic racism plaguing our police forces nationwide. TAKE ACTION!”

There have been a overabundance of protests since the death of George Floyd while he was in police custody. Though some of the demonstrations have turned to looting and vandalizing, not all was lost as Derek Chauvin, the officer whose knee was on George’s neck, and the other three ex-officers have now all been charged.

Chauvin’s charge, as announced on Wednesday was advanced from third-degree murder to now second-degree. The other officers have been charged with aiding and assisting second-degree murder.

Additional footage of George Floyd’s death showed three officers pinning him down while he writhed to breathe. People felt that proof alone warranted all officers involved being charged.

Ultimately, it took a week for Chauvin’s charges to be upgraded and for the other officers to receive charges, as well.
