The co-founder of Reddit, Alexis Ohanian, is resigning from the company’s board. saying he’s doing it for himself, his family, and his country, Alexis took to social media to announce his resignation.
Having a 2-year-old daughter with Serena Williams, named Alexis Olympia, Alexis shares and explains that raising a black daughter plays a heavy part in his decision.
“I’m saying this as a father who needs to be able to answer his black daughter when she asks: ‘What did you do?’” Whew! Serena ‘bout to take him to Red Lobster but I digress.
Alexis also pledges $1 million to Colin Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp in addition to stepping down from the board.
“I have resigned as a member of the reddit board, I have urged them to fill my seat with a black candidate, and I will use future gains on my Reddit stock to serve the black community, chiefly to curb racial hate, and I’m starting with a pledge of $1M to Colin Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp,” he said.
“I believe resignation can actually be an act of leadership from people in power right now. To everyone fighting to fix our broken nation: do not stop.”
Moves are being made, people are being heard, and although there is still A LOT to be done, some people are making progress individually, in business, and in their personal lives period.
