Heads of the agencies who oversee electricity and natural gas, the nuclear weapons stockpile, and overseas aid were apparently fired by the Trump Administration shortly after the voting counts were posted.
Lisa Gordon, Bonnie Glick, and Neil Chatterjee were all forced to resign as of Friday. Despite this, Chatterjee will continue as an agency commissioner and he says the cessation was a form of reprisal by President Trump after they differed with certain plans regarding climate change.
“I have obviously been out there promoting a conservative, market-based approach to carbon mitigation and sending signals the commission is open to considering a carbon price, and perhaps that led to this. Quite frankly, if, in fact, this was retribution for my independence, I am quite proud of that.”
The White House did not comment on the terminations and there were no further details if there would be more firings amid the election results.
