After a domestic abuse incident with her partner on Saturday, a young woman died from her injuries at a local hospital.
Rebekah Harry, 29, of La Salle, was found in the apartment with her partner, Brandon McIntyre, 32, and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, according to Montreal police. McIntyre had a long criminal background, according to investigators, including drug violations, criminal abuse, and failing to obey court-ordered conditions. Breach of terms and aggravated assault are the charges he is currently facing.
Prosecutors are awaiting the cause of Harry’s death, according to Montreal Police spokesperson Constable Raphael Bergeron, to see whether they can file additional charges against McIntyre. According to CBC News, he appeared in court on Tuesday and returned on Friday for a follow-up hearing.
According to the news outlet, Harry’s death comes after a 40-year-old woman was discovered dead in a taxi in Saint-Leonard alongside a 52-year-old man. According to authorities, the crime was a murder-suicide in which the unidentified man killed the victim before taking his own life on Friday.
