Coldplay has maintained a consistent release schedule since their debut album Parachutes in 2000, releasing a new album every few years at the very least. Everyday Life, their most recent full-length album, was released in 2019, and it appears that something new is in the works two years later. Chris Martin and his band are, at the very least, up to something.
They posted a connection to a website called Alien Radio FM earlier today. When you first visit the web, you’ll see a spinning globe that transforms into a four-pointed star. When you move the mouse across the globe, you’ll hear multilingual messages from all over the world. There are also several cryptic letter-like symbols on the web, which fans assume they have decoded. According to popular belief, the band would release a new song named “Higher Power” on May 7th. If the band does release a single next week, it will be their first in 2021 and their first since Everyday Life.
After having an active online presence early on during the coronavirus pandemic, Martin has mostly kept a low profile over the past year. He did, however, performing during an at-home edition of Saturday Night Live and perform on a charity Foo Fighters cover, among other things.
