On HBO’s critically acclaimed series “Insecure,” Yvonne Orji had her final table read for her character Molly.
During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Thursday, the actor and comedian discussed the feelings she felt when doing her last table read, describing the experience as nostalgic.
She admitted, “There may have been some thug tears shed.”
She then joked that she and the show’s producer and star, Issa Rae, had set their sights on various props that they planned to take home when the show ended. “Bamboozled by Jesus: How God Tricked Me Into the Life of My Dreams,” Orji’s latest novel, will be published later this month. “Momma, I Made It!” was her first comedy special, which aired on HBO last year. Molly, played by Orji, is a career-focused lawyer who is best friends with Rae on “Insecure” (whose character has the same name).
HBO revealed in January that “Insecure” will end after its forthcoming fifth season, much to the dismay of the show’s ardent fans.
“We going out with a bang y’all,” Orji tweeted at the time of the announcement. “Thanks for rocking with us!!”
Orji commemorated her last table read as Molly on Instagram on Thursday, posting a photo of the final episode’s script.
“The final episode Deng. This really is good-bye,” she wrote in the post’s caption, adding that she was going to miss the “Insecure” team.
Her post, unsurprisingly, garnered a lot of sad and crying-face emojis from fans grappling with the reality that the stories of Rae, Molly, Tiffany (Amanda Seales), Lawrence (Jay Ellis) and Kelli (Natasha Rothwell) are coming to an end.
