42 Dugg’s rise to fame began with a game of shooting dice with Lil Baby, whose 4PF imprint would later become Dugg’s house. Dugg, who is from Detroit, has released many projects since 2018, but his breakthrough came in 2020, when he collaborated with Baby on the track “We Paid,” which was one of the most successful hip-hop releases of the year. More than a year later, Dugg is aiming for the same level of success with his latest album, Free Dem Boyz, which includes a new video featuring the Detroit native alongside Future.
The new video for the duo‘s first collaboration, “Maybach,” shows them stunting in luxury cars while holding large amounts of money. Fans are also taking notice of the track because it has a diss track. Lori Harvey, the stepdaughter of comedian and Family Feud host Steve Harvey, is Future’s ex-girlfriend. On several occasions in the album, he raps, “Tell Steve Harvey I don’t want her.” The shot at Lori was revealed in a snippet of the track that leaked the night before the track’s release, and Steve may have reacted to the song with a tweet of his own. “Sometimes distancing is the best response,” he wrote. “You don’t have to return or respond to negative energy. Just remove yourself.”
As for Free Dem Boyz, the project comes with a total of 19 songs and features from Lil Durk, Roddy Ricch, EST Gee, Rowdy Rebel, and Fivio Foreign.
