This weekend, Mike Lindell hosted yet another under-attended rally, this time with Donald Trump in attendance. However, the former president wasn’t the main attraction: Lindell spoke after him, by which time “the crowd, which had begun to filter out after Trump’s speech ended, had already significantly dissipated,” as the Daily Beast put it.
Lindell raving about Fox News (“Shame on you, Fox… This is awful what they’ve done to our country”), Newsmax (“Look at Newsmax, the cowards there”), and The Daily Show earlier in the afternoon was lucky for the sunburned walk-outs.
Apart than constantly debunking Lindell’s outlandish claims and dubbing him “alt-right Mario,” what did The Daily Show with Trevor Noah do to him? Jordan Klepper had interviewed the MyPillow founder earlier that day, and he was dissatisfied with the results. Lindell leaked the interview before it could run on Comedy Central to retaliate against Klepper.
Lindell informed Steve Bannon of “Real America’s Voice” on Wednesday that Daily Show producers insisted on filming his interview in front of temporary toilets. Bannon then broadcast a six-minute mobile phone video of Jordan Klepper of the Daily Show questioning Lindell… Lindell appears enraged.
Lindell is ranting throughout most of the tape he released, including a heated exchange in which he refers to Klepper as a “jokester, you’re being real hilarious.” When you say things like that, you should be ashamed of what you’ve done to our country. “This has nothing to do with the pillow!” exclaims the narrator. (In casual conversation, I need to start saying, “This has nothing to do with the cushion.”) Later, Klepper says he’d prefer binge Mare of Easttown than watch Lindell’s “internet proof.” “I don’t watch trash,” Lindell says after initially being perplexed. I attempt to evangelize as much as possible. We’re in the midst of the greatest rebirth in human history. Our country wants to get back to one nation under God.”
Lindell was trying to pull one over on The Daily Show and Klepper (I guess???), but it did not work. He ended up making himself look more nutty than usual.
