Chrissy Teigen is the center of attention these days, thanks to her recent apologies for past tweets and abusive direct messages. Another alleged victim of Teigen’s bullying has now been exposed as a liar.
Designer Michael Costello purportedly submitted screenshots of a 2014 conversation in which Teigen was abusive toward him, however Business Insider points out that the images have many irregularities in terms of Twitter’s visual layout. As a result, it appears that Costello’s screenshots were faked.
“Chrissy apologized for her public comments, but after her apologies, Mr Costello invented a DM discussion between them,” John Legend responded in a series of tweets today. This was an entirely made-up exchange that never took place. […] I’m not sure why somebody would fabricate DMs to inject themselves into this story, but that’s exactly what happened. I encourage everyone who spreads this untruth with such zeal to do the same when it comes time to correct the record.”
This comes after Legend backed Teigen by publishing a phrase from her apologetic letter that reads, “We are all more than our worst times.” “I won’t ask for your forgiveness, only your patience and tolerance,” Teigen writes at the end of her message. I ask that you allow me to own my mistakes, as I promise you will allow me to own yours, and that you give me the opportunity to pursue self-improvement and change. Phew. I know it’s a lot. Thank you for taking the time to listen.”
