Not only are prominent Twitch streamers designing shoes, but aftermarket businesses like StockX are expanding their offers to include hard-to-find game consoles like the Playstation 5 and Nintendo Switch. The Nike SNKRS app is set to release an exclusive wireless Xbox Series X/S controller, making things official.
The controller will be released alongside a pair of low-top LeBron 18s that pay homage to Looney Tunes characters Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner as part of a bundle commemorating the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy. LeBron has a history of crazy sneaker designs, so it’s no surprise that this Looney Tunes-inspired LeBron 18 is outrageous (in a very cool way).
The left shoe is dressed in desert-like earth tones with a swoosh wrapped in dynamite fuse to represent Wile E. Coyote, while the right shoe is dressed in blue tones with yellow highlights and a swoosh sporting dust clouds symbolizing the speed of Road Runner. The controller, which portrays the aftermath of Wile E. and the Road Runner’s encounter, brings the entire design to a close.
Nike and Xbox could have just slapped any Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner graphic on the controller and called it a day, but the fact that the design is woven into the shoe adds a level of cohesion that we like. Space Jam: A New Legacy — The Game, an arcade-style video game, is now available on Xbox Game Pass as part of the celebration.
The Space Jam bundle is set to drop on July 15th via the Nike SNKRS app, and Xbox will also be dropping three more controllers inspired by the movie on July 8th.
