The Funeral Plans of Biz Markie Have Been Revealed

The music industry was shocked to learn about Biz Markie’s death last month, which was caused by complications from Type II Diabetes. The rapper’s funeral arrangements have already been revealed: It will take place on August 2nd at Patchogue Theatre For The Performing Arts in Patchogue, New York, where the rapper was born. The funeral will be broadcast live on BET from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., according to Greater Long Island.

“Biz Markie touched the world with his infectious smile, amazing energy, and hip hop hits,” According to Revolt, the announcement states. “Best known for his Top 40 tune ‘Just A Friend,’ as well as his regular appearance on Yo Gabba Gabba! He lit up every room he entered and every song he played.”


The service’s eulogy will be delivered by Reverend Al Sharpton, as he mentioned in a recent Twitter post. There will also be performances from Fat Joe, Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, and members of the Juice Crew, who were all friends of the late rapper.


Shortly after Markie’s death, his representative Jenni Izumi revealed that he passed away with his wife beside him. “Biz created a legacy of artistry that will forever be celebrated by his industry peers and his beloved fans whose lives he was able to touch through music, spanning over 35 years,” Izumi added. “He leaves behind a wife, many family members and close friends who will miss his vibrant personality, constant jokes and frequent banter.”
