Our hip-hop editor Aaron Williams praised Isaiah Rashad’s outstanding new album, The House Is Burning, as capturing “the tension between that sense of powerlessness in the face of inevitable calamity and our own… urge to go forward as though this is all normal, even though we know it’s not.” Rashad continues to release new music this week with the release of a video for “From The Garden,” which features Lil Uzi Vert. Rashad raps and walks through the neighborhood in black and white, staying outside a line to get into a club, where 4-wheelers and fancy cars line the street.
Lil Uzi Vert appears in the video to rap alongside Rashad, riding a four-wheeler of his own in a return to black-and-white graphics that spread and divide like a surreal ’70s video with plenty of twerking. Returning to the club from earlier, more shenanigans ensue as someone spills a pizza and Rashad makes it rain money outside the club, prompting patrons to rush over to take the cash.
