Est Gee, a young Louisville rapper who has been steadily dropping new singles all summer, has been on a roll lately with songs like “Riata Dada,” “Price Tag,” and “Capitol 1,” all of which debuted on his Bigger Than Life Or Death project from last month. That album also charted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, and with that kind of momentum, all Est Gee has to do now is keep releasing new music. That’s exactly what he’s done today – though if he’s going to work in the studio with Jay Z, he’d better come by himself.
Lil Baby, 42 Dugg, and Rylo all appear on his latest track, “5500 Degrees,” which is a study in the art of the posse cut. The video is a gigantic flex, complete with mounds of cash, luxury automobiles, diamond-encrusted necklaces, and all of the rappers partying together, enjoying their wealth. The song is a smart reworking of Juvenile’s 1998 classic “400 Degreez,” and it’s another another example of how ’90s nostalgia is increasingly making its way into hip-hop and the pop mainstream. All of the rappers offer quality verses, but Lil Baby’s last, rapid-fire effort is well worth the wait. Check out the video above and stay tuned for more new songs from Est Gee.
