Netflix has released an early peek at The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, its next animated film, with only a few days till its launch. Vesemir (voiced by Theo James) will take up the job of preparing young witchers for a life of monster-hunting in Nightmare of the Wolf, which is set in the setting of the hit Netflix series.
Vesemir is the wizened old witcher who trains the primary protagonist Geralt of Rivia, played by Henry Cavill in the Netflix series, as fans of the books and video games know. While Vesemir has yet to appear in a live-action production, that will change in Season 2 when Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve) plays Geralt’s tutor, who was a fan favorite in the games.
Nightmare of the Wolf will cover Vesemir’s early years and the events that led him to Kaer Mohren, where monster hunters are created, before Cavill’s Geralt reunites with the man who transformed him into a witcher when Season 2 premieres in December.
The official synopsis is as follows:
In this anime origin narrative, the universe of The Witcher expands: Prior to Geralt, there was Vesemir, a swashbuckling young witcher who fled poverty by slaying monsters for a living. When a weird new creature terrorizes a politically troubled kingdom, Vesemir is thrust into a terrifying quest that requires him to confront his past demons.
