Jaxxon D. Silva, a 22-year-old Los Angeles native, has been releasing songs since 2017, ranging from grungy alt-rock to low-fi, vintage hip-hop and working with Lil Peep and Skepta. In April, he released the five-song EP I Wasn’t Born With Enough Middle Fingers, which continued his record of new releases while also expanding his creative muscles with references to grime and Chicago drill.
He’s the newest addition to Uproxx’s Sessions performance canon this week, performing a gloomy rendition of his synthy 2020 trap smash “Out Here On The Otherside.” The rebellious lyrics celebrate his status as an outcast and a rebel, asking the audience to join him in defying convention. On the hook, he sings, “I’m out here on the otherside.” “Why don’t you try crossing the line?” says the narrator.
