Summer may be over but Har’Monique’s latest single “Take Over” is set to heat things back up for the #HotGirlFall. In “Take Over,” Har’Monique sings over a beat that mixes R&B, dancehall, reggae, and “Caribbean Afrobeats.” The New York native starts off the song with the sweet sounds of a girl with a crush as she swoons that she “never really had someone give me this feeling” and shares that it’s “up to you to make a move,” before she dives into a woman who’s ready to take over.
“If you rollin’ with me, take off the lights / I could be the best thing you ever had in life / Give it to ya quickly, never ask twice / Ready to experience the time of ya life,” she says over the beat before boasting that she “got the game on ten.”
Overall it’s a fun track. When COVID’s over I could definitely see the song leading to some (consensual) grinding on the dance floor.
Har’Monique’s self-titled album is set to be released on October 15. According to the press release, it will have 16 tracks with “a full variety of sounds” including pop, hip-hop, R&B, and her “signature Caribbean Afrobeats.”
