Jay-Z startled the entertainment industry on Tuesday by launching an Instagram account. The rapper, who rarely uses social media, made an unexpected move. He agreed to assist promote the upcoming film The Harder They Fall, which he co-executively produced. While some may have anticipated what else he would accomplish with the app, they will never know because he removed the page less than a day after it was launched.
The error notice “User not found” appears when trying to visit @jayz on Instagram. This isn’t the first time Jay has suddenly deleted an Instagram page. He created an account under the name @hovsince96 in the summer of 2015 and published a photo of himself with Michael Jackson. However, The New York Daily News reports that Jay erased the page 14 hours later. His only social media accounts are currently Facebook and Twitter.
After giving some advise to kids with “dreams of being successful” during a quick interview with Jazzy, an 11-year-old Brooklyn reporter, Jay decided to erase his Instagram account. “Believe in yourself before you believe in anyone else,” he advised. “You have to have the same level of self-assurance as you do.” You have a lot of self-assurance. And don’t forget to believe in yourself.”
