Fresco Trey, a Memphis native, is “Fresh Off A Heartbreak,” so he went by UPROXX Sessions to provide a somber rendition of the Heartbreak Diaries hit. Trey discusses his efforts to get over a bad breakup by adopting a luxurious lifestyle of drinking and materialism, half crooning, half rapping.
Trey, like many of today’s up-and-coming hip-hop artists, switched from collegiate athletics to chase his desire of rap success. He was recruited to play college basketball before deciding to follow his dream of rap glory instead. He was able to turn an underground buzz into a record deal with Warner this year, under which he published his debut major-label EP, Heartbreak Diaries, after self-releasing an EP and networking behind-the-scenes for a few years. He’s still young in his career, but he’s already demonstrated a knack for catchy tunes and accessible issues. He could be a star if he can discover a voice that distinguishes him from the crowd of similarly talented young stars.
