The world of hard seltzer has been expanding with new additions in recent years. Every time you looked around, it appeared like another manufacturer had released their own version, including numerous celebrity-endorsed options. Travis Scott’s Cacti hard seltzer was one of them, which he revealed last winter and which we reviewed in depth this summer. Until recently, it appeared that the seltzer was just another extension of Travis’ various commercial collaborations, like as his McDonalds agreement and the gear that came with it.
However, according to AdAge, the drink’s backer, Anheuser-Busch, has declared that the drink will be discontinued. The decision is most likely motivated by the ongoing aftermath from Scott’s Astroworld festival, which sadly resulted in the deaths of nine concertgoers owing to trampling and crowd control concerns.
“We have decided to suspend all manufacturing and brand development of Cacti Agave Spiked Seltzer after serious consideration,” Anheuser-Busch said in a statement. “We trust brand lovers will understand and appreciate this choice,” the brewer said when asked explicitly if the decision was influenced by the events at Astroworld, and Scott hasn’t commented on the decision either.
