50 Cent Launches New Headphones Line At CES

Rap star 50 Cent has joined the likes of Dr. Dre with the launch of his celebrity brand line of earphones. The three sets of earphones will be known as Sync By 50, Street By 50 and Street By 50 ear bud earphones with the first two already on sale in all major electronics outlets.

50 Cent, well known for his casual rap style and entrepreneurial tendencies, was at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to drum up some publicity for the line of products. According to Fiddy, as he is popularly known, music electronics are a natural extension and progression to his line of work, which he adds is more of a passion and that the earphones are merely “an extension of my passion for music.”

The launch of 50 Cent’s line of earphones comes after Dr. Dre, another popular rap artist successfully built his Beats By Dre brand line of earphones as well as other artists in the Beats line of earphones including Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga and P.Diddy. For 50, however, the line of earphones will be manufactured and marketed exclusively through his company SMS Audio and according to him, the company will expand its offerings to include home audio systems, professional audio equipment, speakers, iPod docks and DJ headsets.

Sync By 50, which will retail at $400, will feature a wireless listening connection that can sync up to 4 sets of earphones to one music device, will be professionally tuned and also feature 40-mm drivers, 16-bit lossless digital sound and on-board controls with bass boost, volume control and mute.

Street By 50 headphones will be a corded version of the Sync By 50 and will feature a detachable listening cord with the same features to offer “crystal-clear sound” with no tuning at all. This set will be retailing at $300 per set. The last set of ear bud corded earphones are yet to be launched and will feature Apple like features such as in-ear noise reduction as well as an ergonomically designed Apple control mic with volume control and reinforced cables.
