Tamar Braxton has taken herself out of the competition on “Dancing with the Stars” because of illness.
DWTS producer BBC Worldwide Productions stated on Wednesday that Braxton asked to withdraw from the ABC TV dance contest for medical reasons, which was not specific.
Braxton, a Grammy-nominated singer, co-host on “The Real” talk show, star in the Lifetime reality show “Braxton Family Values” and Tamar and Vince, she also recently released her second album “Calling All Lovers” and she is currently on Kem’s “Promise to Love” tour as a guest singer.
The “Dancing with the Stars” audience was informed on Monday night that Braxton had been taken to the hospital earlier in the day, after a dress rehearsal. She arrived at the live broadcast toward the end. Had she not shown up in time to accompany her partner Braxton Chmerkovskiy, the team would have automatically been eliminated from the competition.
Braxton posted a message to her fans on Instagram, late Tuesday night that read:
“With a heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem. After yesterday’s final #dwts performance I went back to the hospital (after doctors didn’t want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don’t have pneumonia but having something way more serious and that is having several P.E.’s (blood clots in both sides of my lungs). As you know I will be the first to always encourage anyone to push through any obstacle that comes along ones way. But in this case my health is my current obstacle. And in true #tamartian form, I must go about the exact same way as anything else. I woke up to a mirror and saw myself this morning and that makes me the winner because that almost wasn’t the case… Take care of yourselves, I love you and thank you all for your support. P.s. Big Hugs and kisses to my boo @iamvalc for being beyond a friend, brother and the best partner ever.”
KEM posted on his Instagram “My thoughts and prayers are with @tamarbraxtonher and her family for a speedy and full recovery! Take care and we’ll see you soon.”
Tamara Mowry, another co-host from “The Real” daytime talk show reposted Tamar’s message to her fans on her own Instagram page and added “Thoughts and Prayers go out to this strong woman. So proud of her for all she’s accomplished this year and for putting her health first. Love you @tamatbraxtonher.”
Braxton’s DWTS partner, Val Chmerkovskiy posted a pictue of the two of them in her hospital room with a caption saying “#teamvalentay @tamrbtaxtonher”.
The Official DWTS Instagram account posted on Wednesday night, “We Can confirm that @TamarBraxtonHer has withdrawn from the competition. We wish her the best and a speedy recovery. #DWTS.
And finally, around 4 AM MST this morning, Loni Love, co-host to “The Real” and close personal friend of Braxton posted a picture of the two of them together and a caption that read, “I sat with my friend tonight… She needs to rest, heal and that is what God is making her do… I told her that… I also told her that she has some of the sweetest fans in the world… Please continue to pray and send positive thoughts to Tamar… We really appreciate you all!
