Cedric Nicolas-Troyan worked on the original film as the visual effects supervisor and returns to direct the sequel. He is also known for his visual effects work on ”The Ring”, ”Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”. The writing team consists of Evan Spiliotopoulos, known for his writing work on a variety of Disney projects including ”The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning” and ”Tarzan 2” and Craig Mazin known for writing ”Identity Thief” and ”The Hangover Part 2”. The film was originally set to be a prequel, however with the lack of Kristen Stewart in the film the films plot was changed along with its title. Reports stated that Stewart did not return to the movie due to her indiscretion with the original films director (Rupert Sanders), however this has never been confirmed.

The Huntsmen Winter’s War is due for release in April 2016. The trailer can be seen below.
