Angela Burns is the latest artist to prove that black girls rock. The Austin, Texas native matches grunge with her trancelike voice in her latest single, “Napoleon” off of her EP, So That You Can Feel Better.
“You don’t know what I have to offer,” she sings in the chorus against the backdrop of drums in “Napoleon.” Later on she continues with”snd you sat on your pedestal waiting for me to submit,” before she repeats the title of the song.
The 21-year-old who’s inspired by 90s grunge, pop-punk, and post-grunge bands circa 2000s, has been drumming since the age of nine. And we can already see her as a contender for the stage at the next Afropunk Festival.
Aside from rocking out, Burns is also a talented actress. She’s slated to appear in Sleight, a film about “a man with multiple Sclerosis must find peace as he struggles with the financial and social anxiety that come as consequence to the disease,” according to IMDb.
