I’m feeling tears of joy.

When Derek Chauvin was found guilty, George Floyd’s family wept and rejoiced. News outlets were able to catch his family’s reactions when they were in Minneapolis and Houston. Ronald Floyd, his brother, said, “I’m feeling tears of joy. So emotional that no family in history ever got this far. We were able to get a guilty charge on all counts. We got a chance to take it all the way. This right here for everyone that has ever been in this situation, everybody. We are here standing in unity.” His family in Houston can be seen and heard shouting for joy when all verdicts were read as “guilty.”

Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis cop who kneeled on George Floyd’s neck for nearly ten minutes, was found guilty on all counts, as you might know. The jury in the trial deliberated for ten hours before returning a three-count verdict: Guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. Derek Chauvin looked shook as he was cuffed and dragged back to jail, where he was remanded as he waits at least eight weeks until sentencing. We got a chance to take it all the way
