Lizzo is the type of musician that is always willing to give credit where credit is due. Maybe it’s in her character, or maybe it’s because she worked so hard for so long before getting her big break, but she’s the master of spotting when others are having a key moment. And I believe we can all agree that Lil Nas X is having one right now. After the “Old Town Road” disaster, Billy Ray Cyrus remix, record-breaking Billboard performance, and more, many people dismissed all of the added hubbub as one-hit wonder nonsense. They had no idea he had a lot more internet-breaking to accomplish.
Now that his debut album, Montero, is out, it’s doing things like hitting at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart, spawning three top-ten hits, and charting eleven songs. Lizzo was one of the first to congratulate the young rapper on his achievement, posting an all-caps message on Twitter:
And Nas was blown away that she took the time to celebrate with him. “oh my god u did not have to congratulate me! thank you so much lizzo i’m tearing up fr 💕💕💕😢,” he responded.
